Do you supply fire-resistant or LSZH cable?
Yes. We supply LSZH (low smoke zero halogen) sheathed cable and fire-resistant cable with mica tape applied over the conductor, tested to IEC 60331. Please state the required fire rating and the test standard, because circuit-integrity requirements differ significantly between projects and markets.
Which sheath should I choose for outdoor or buried installation?
For direct burial and outdoor exposure, black PVC (ST2) or PE (ST7) sheathing with a UV-stabilised compound is standard. Where oil, chemicals or rodents are present, describe the exposure and we will propose a different sheath compound or an additional protective layer.
What conductor material do you use?
Electrolytic copper to IEC 60228 (annealed, 99.9 percent minimum) and aluminium 1350 for aluminium conductors. Every length is tested against the IEC 60228 resistance table. Oxygen-free and tinned copper are available on request.
What are the maximum operating temperatures?
PVC insulated cable: 70 degrees C continuous conductor temperature. XLPE insulated cable: 90 degrees C continuous. Short-circuit ratings are 160 degrees C for PVC and 250 degrees C for XLPE, for a duration of 5 seconds maximum.
What is the minimum bending radius?
As a planning guide: single-core unarmoured 20 x overall diameter (D), multicore unarmoured 15 x D, armoured cable 12 x D, and flexible cable 6 x D. The binding figure is the one in the standard called up by your project, so please confirm it before laying.
What is the standard delivery length?
Building wire is supplied in 100 m coils. LV power cable is normally 500 m or 1000 m per drum, MV cable 500 m per drum, and overhead conductor 1000 to 2000 m per drum, subject to drum size and transport limits. Any length can be produced to order; short non-standard lengths may carry a price premium.
